I noticed on your blog, you are showing your latest post but you don't have the tabs to change from latest to popular. I also want to do this and I know all I need to do is remove these tabs by overriding your template in my theme. My suggest is, putting an option in your config xml file to allow the user to choose if they want latest, popular or both. This will make it a lot easier when cloning this module. I found that in order for me to get this option, I need to modify your module. Also it would be nice to construct the date html inside the template rather then inside your helper class. I ran into this problem when working with VirtueMart where I had to modify all their modules because their way of design was poor. I ended up just creating new modules. I'm glad your module only needed a slight change.
Also your entries model is still trying to delete from the permalinks table, but you no longer have this table so that should be removed, unless that's what your patch is for.
