Lyften Bloggie - Using Joomla's Sections and Categories - ...

Is it possible to use Joomla's sections and categories instead?  All my modules are designed to pull articles from Joomla sections and categories, and I can't pull lyften's article as it's not stored as Joomla's articles.

Also, to update from older version of lyften to new version, you would loose all exiting articles.

When you upgrade to the new release, all existing articles created with bloggie remain. There is the addition of the "welcome to bloggie" each time your upgrade to the new release.

I'm not sure if or how you have upgraded to a new release, but the way to do it, is NOT to uninstall the existing component, but to install the new release over the top of the existing one you have installed. That's the way I've been doing it, and I haven't lost any existing articles created with bloggie. Hope this is of some help for you.

I've uninstalled then reinstalled.  I guess that explains that.

Any insight on using Joomla's Section/Category?  It's the only reason I've choose another over this one.

I really had no intent of using Joomla's Section/Category. I played with other blogging systems that use it and I just didn't like it. That's why I made my own. I don't like using Sections I think there is no use for them in a blog. Just Categories and tags.

Why exactly do you want to use them?

Do you want it to look like this:

Blog(Joomla's Section)
                      |
                       ---> Bloggies(Joomla's Category)
                      |                          |
                      |                           ----->Entries for Category(Joomla's Articles)
                      |
                       --->Tech(Joomla's Category)
                      |                          |
                      |                           ------>Entries for Category(Joomla's Articles)
                      |
                       --->Updates(Joomla's Category)
                      |                          |
                      |                          ----->Entries for Category(Joomla's Articles)
                      |
                       --->BlahBlah(Joomla's Category)
                                                 |
                                                 ----->Entries for Category(Joomla's Articles)

If that's what you are looking for then that wouldn't be too hard to do. But how is that different than what Joomla already does?

Daniel,

Since I evaluated and then reluctantly un-installed your component precisely because of the lack of this capability permit me to respond to your questions.

Yes, the scheme that you presented is exactly what I would like to see in Bloggie, with a standard Joomla section for Bloggie content and the ability to organize articles within Bloggie with standard Joomla categories.

Why

I would like this component to be able to use Joomla sections and categories. Any idea if this is going to be implemented?

I think also .. it is better to have the ability to bind Joomla Categories and Articles to LyftenBloggies. Joomlas Section in my view is the Author in Bloggies. So if it is possible, you just need 1 place to write artikels an not shared in Joomla and Bloogies..
