Lyften Bloggie - No blog entries found in category - Forums

Hi there,

Did a new install of Lyften Bloggie a few days ago. Set everything up, install went in fine.

Fixed the Lastest Blog error codes that were popping up. And no that the recent blogs due show up, when you click on the category name in the recent blogs I get "No blog entries found in category" followed by the category name.

I do have AceSEF installed, but have it disabled for Lyften Bloggie. The url for the category page looks legit. "/index.php?option=com_lyftenbloggie&category=test"

What it does appear to be, maybe, is when in the backend of Lyften Bloggie and I go to the entries section. I notice the demo entry that comes with Lyften Bloggie it says the access level is Guest. However, when you go into the entry or create a new one, the Access level section seems not to be working.

I'm guessing it supposed to be a drop down of Group Levels, instead it's got "Element not defined for type = Access"

Something else I see is when creating new entries they don't default to today's date. The go in as a blank date, all 0's, but show up on the site as Nov. 29, 1999

Any ideas? I'm going to try poking around and see if I can find it.

Thanks

Edit:

I've also tried turning off sef all together, with no luck. The categories module produces the same results. Clicking on a tag in an entry does work, as well as clicking the entries Title will display an entries. It's just getting the category to work.
Think I've narrowed it down, but not sure where in code to fix it.

I found out that the category "Bloggies" worked just fine. I tried 2 other categories...

Latest Updates
slug: latest-update

Real Estate
slug: realestate

Neither worked.

But with a change or two...

LatestUpdates
slug: latestupdate

RealEstate
slug: realestate

Both work now. Seems that it will not work if there is a space or - (may be other characters as well) in either the Title or the Slug.

On the access problem. I can set the access of an entry, but only in the frontend of the site. The backend doesn't have the dropdown menu.
Weird I will have to look into it.

Thanks,

-Daniel

Hi Daniel, I just installed this today for the first time and ran into the same issue on categories - if I make them one word, no hyphens or spaces the link to the category works - if I try to do a standard New Categor / new-category - the category is not found from the blog post "category" link.

Have you been able to look into this?  I am having the similar problems and it's one of the best blogs I've seen, with this exception, which is a major one.  In my installation, the only people who can view the blogs are Manager and above, which will not work, of course.  It gives me "Element not defined for type = Access" next to Access when I am writing a blog.  I have changed all my categories to one word and it still didn't fix anything.  Is there a workaround for this?  I need this blog to be viewable to guests and above.  I am supposed to go live with the site on Monday and I do not want to change blog components.  Thanks!

I had the same problem after installing 2010-07-17 patch. What I've found is, that no Category "name" is used to find correct posts, but the value from field SLUG (in category definition). So correct the Slug field and you will get the proper entries displayed.

It's been a while since your post but, anyways. When you create a Category and hit Save joomla create a Slug separating words with dashes. So, type the Category Name and then type the Category Slug without dashes. e.g. Category Name - category name. This is for 1.0, not sure if it'll work for1.1. It worked for me.

Hello,
I have the same problem : I downloaded the last version of the componenet and I can see categories, authors and blog entries ONLY if I'm logged as a manager or adinistrator.
I tried to change the slug category name but it still doesn't work.
I think there must be a bug somewhere. It's a great component but I can't use it for now.
Do the developper could fix this problem ?
Thanks
